July 7, 1996, WCW held its annual summer pay per view Bash at the Beach. Little did the fans know we were going to see the biggest heel turn in wrestling history. I remember watching this PPV at the age of 9 in utter shock to see Hulk Hogan side with Hall and Nash to form the NWO.
The heel turn
What’s even more interesting than the actual heel turn itself now, is learning that this turn almost didn’t happen.
On the 25 June, WWE announced another mass release of talent in their company. This included the Bollywood Boys, Tony Nese, Tyler Breeze and Fandango. Tyler Breeze was a huge loss, as he was an integral part of the WWE Youtube channel “UpUpDownDown”. He and Austin Creed (Xavier Woods) have each posted Instagram posts about how much they will miss each other. Fandango, his tag team partner, is also a huge loss and I think Fandango to AEW is a must have signing.
Tuesday, July 6, 2021, the Phoenix Suns hosted the Milwaukee Bucks for game 1 of the NBA Finals. Giannis went from doubtful to playing in this game and his team needed every minute he gave them.
June 30, 2021. The Suns had the opportunity to close out the series in LA against the Clippers. They came into the night with a 3-2 series lead. Led by Chris Paul, they left were able to seal the deal to go to their first NBA finals since 1993.
As we get closer to the NFL season, we take another look at the top 5 remaining free agents and what it would take to sign them.
5. DE Melvin Ingram
Ingram was sidelined last year with a season ending knee injury. Before being sidelined, he recorded 10 tackles and 1 interception in 7 games. His production with the Chargers dipped a little in the last 2 seasons, but a team that is a contender can use the services of the 31 year old veteran. Signing a 1 to 2 year contract with the likes of Kansas City, Baltimore, or Buffalo would be best for Ingram right now. It gives him a contract to show he still has gas in the tank before hanging up the cleats for good and a playoff caliber team gets another pass rusher on their roster.
4. LB K.J. Wright
K.J. played in 16 games last year with the Seahawks bringing in 86 total tackles(60 solo, 26 assisted). similar to Melvin Ingram, at age 31, K.J. will be a great addition to a team that has young linebackers on their roster that could use a vet to take them under their wing. A second tier playoff team looking to make a serious run to get to an AFC or NFC championship like the Tennessee Titans or the New Orleans Saints could really use the talents.
On this day in 1998, we had the most memorable moment in a Hell in a Cell match. This moment was so memorable, It made us forget about the crowning of the King of the Ring for that year and Kane winning the WWF Championship in a first blood match.
This post season has shown us that Philly needs a new process. We have given the process a chance and unfortunately it doesn’t work as constructed. The best thing the 76ers can do now is trade one of their stars and that star is Ben Simmons.
Wednesday June 2, 2021 news broke of surprising cuts of more WWE superstars. “WWE has come to terms on the releases of Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Murphy, Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett.” Many of us fans were taken by surprise. Why is WWE cutting so much talent at such a fast rate when their product is hurting for ratings?
