USFL Season Open

On Saturday, April 16, 2022, we saw the return of the USFL. The inaugural season kicked off with the New Jersey Generals taking on the  Birmingham Stallion.

I tuned into the game last night with the mindset, that this was going to be something interesting to watch while the NFL was away and they lived up to that expectation with this game. The part I feel like I like the most right now is the drone camera. I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride and still on my couch at the same time.

As far as the 2 teams go from Saturday night, I’ll watch more of their games going forward. The Generals like running with a 2 QB system, with Luis Perez taking the snaps for the majority of the passing plays and De’ Andre Johnson taking the other half to utilize his running threat.

Even though the Generals held the lead most of the game, J’mar Smith, QB for the Stallion, kept his composure and scored the winning touchdown with less than 30 seconds left. The Stallion got the win 28-24.

I look forward to seeing what week 2 brings us and plan to pick my team by week four. Until then, keep doing your thing USFL!!
